Anna Evelyn (Schick) Fuhrmann

Anna Evelyn (Schick) Fuhrmann, 76, of Ely, formerly of St. Paul, went to heaven on October 1st at Boundary Waters Care Center after a 9 month struggle with a hemorrhagic stroke. Her devoted husband was at her side. Her Grand-dog Stella, among others, welcomed her into heaven.
Born in Beaulieu, MN on September 13, 1941 to Henry and Clara (Becker) Schick, she graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1959. She went on to graduate with an RN from The Ancker School of Nursing in St. Paul in 1962, married Gerald C. Fuhrmann August 7, 1963 in St. Paul and graduated from the U of MN School of nursing with a BSN in 1971. Anna worked at War Memorial Hospital in Michigan, Hawaii State Hospital, Denver General Hospital in Colorado, and St. Paul-Ramsey, Highland Chateau, and the VA Medical Center in Minnesota.
She loved animals, charities, and served her church as a Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan, Lector, and Altar Server once retired. She enjoyed encouraging the grandkids in their music, art, and dance and going to museums.
Anna leaves behind her best friend and husband, Gerald, her daughter, Theresa Thompson (Craig), and her grandchildren Maxibillion, Bethany Rose, and Shepard Thompson. Other survivors include sisters Katy (Jerry) Patten, Elizabeth (Stephen) Schick-Robins, and Margaret (Chris) Kuffenkam and brothers Henry (Sara) and Meinrad. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John, sister Clara Bauer, brother-in-law Gervaise Bauer, and sister-in-law Norma.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 12th, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ely with Visitation being held 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. 
Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
