Bernice Elizabeth (width) Anderson

Bernice E. Anderson, 102 years and 7 months, of Ely, MN, formerly of Hermantown, MN and Lake Worth, FL passed away December 21, 2015 at the Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital in Ely.
She was born in Duluth, MN on May 27, 1913 to parents August and Jennie Width. She married Carl L. Anderson in January of 1933. 
While living in Hermantown she was very much involved in 4-H Groups, Study Club, Garden Club, PTA and the Jackson Club. She was a big fan of Hermantown basketball and football teams. 
She was much into bowling when her son owned the Two Harbors Bowl.
She worked at Duluth Target before moving to Florida in 1979. She did volunteer work for the West Palm Beach Museum. She loved her 25 years in Florida. She moved back to Minnesota in 2004 for health reasons and to be closer to family.
Bernice loved gardening, embroidery, knitting and crocheting lap robes which are on the laps of many area residents. 
She is survived by daughter Nancy R. Johnson of Ely, daughter-in-law Gerry Anderson of Duluth, grandchildren Brian (Nancy) Johnson of Ely, Brenda Johnson of Ely, Curtis (Debbie) Anderson, of Two Harbors, MN and Jody (Kevin) Carlson of Hermantown, MN.
She had many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl in 1962, son-in-law John E. Johnson in 1993, son Dale in 2006 and an infant son; brothers Robert and Howard Width and sister Evelyn.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 20th, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Kerntz Fuuneral Home in Ely with visitation being held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Immediately following the service there’ll be a Ice Cream Social in Bernice’s honor at the funeral home. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
