John Frank Miklaucic

John F. Miklaucic, 84, of Ely, died on April 11, 2016 at home.  He was born December 27, 1931 in Ely to Frank and Angela (Merhar) Miklaucic.  After graduating from Ely Memorial High School in 1949, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from May 5, 1952 to May 3, 1954.  On October 1, 1955, he married Phyllis Runn. 

John worked at Reserve Mining in Babbitt for 28 years.  After leaving Reserve Mining, he was a custodian for the school district for five years.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #0248 for 62 years.  John enjoyed many years at his cabin and, after retiring, he and Phyllis took many bus tours around United States.

John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis, his children:  Leora (Gary) Mattila of Excelsior, MN; John (Monica) of Santa Rosa, CA, and Lynda (Martin) Divine of Lakeville, MN;  his grandchildren, Jennifer (Christopher) Ehrichs of Glyndon, MN, Michael Divine of Burnsville, MN and Carly Divine of Lakeville, MN;  his great-granddaughter, Kjerstin Ehrichs;  two sisters, Rose Perushek of Billingham, WA and Emma Ronkainen of Virginia, MN and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Angela Miklaucic, sister, Angela Mobilia and two brothers, Frank and Edward.
 
 
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ely with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service at the church. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
