John Richards

John S. Richards, 77, of Ely, died Saturday March 26, 2016 at Carefree Living.
He was born December 2,1938, in Ely to John and Molly (Gnidica) Richards. John married Georgine Matschiner on December 17, 1960. He attended Devry Tech. After college, he opened Richards TV Repair. He also worked as a logger and at Reserve Mining as an electrician. He was also a truck driver for many years. Later, he bought Lakeside Beverages and eventually retired from Coca-Cola.
He was an avid gun collector and had a passion for target shooting. He enjoyed reloading his own ammunition. He especially enjoyed spending time at his cabin and in the woods. But, mostly, John cherished time spent with his family, friends and dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Georgine; sister Mary Jane (Mike) Knapp (of Grand Rapids); brother Jim (Donna) Richards; daughters: Robin Amolins; Penny (Jeff) Jankowski; sons: John (Sara) (of St. Wendel); Bob (Kay) (of Babbitt); grandchildren, Shannon; Stef (Ryan); Michael; Robert; Brandon, Charlie; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth; brother, Gary.
Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ely, Saturday April 2nd at 11 a.m. with visitation being held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by Kerntz Funeral Home.
