Lynette M. Huovinen, 76, of Babbitt, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital.
Lynette loved sewing and was very active in her church. She taught Sunday School, was active in the Krazy Quilters group and was always volunteering. Lynette was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Babbitt Golf Course and the Babbitt Women Bowlers.
She was the first person in Babbitt to get a hole in one on the Babbitt Golf Course.
She had so many wonderful friends and when you saw her she made you feel like you mattered.
She married Reynold Huovinen on June 26, 1957 in Ely, MN.
She is survived by her children: Brenda (Larry) Lind, Sandra (Merle) Vandervest,
Linda (Russell) Parker and Richard Huovinen; her sisters Donna (Robert) Dahlstrom and Penny Wood and a sister-in-law, Helen Huovinen; eight grandchildren: Teri (Jeff) Oscarson, Eric Nilsson, Justine (Wayne) Herzog, Aaron Lind, Joel Vandervest, Leah Vandervest, Lindsay (Christian Johnson) Parker, Joshua Parker; great-grandchildren: Claire, Emelia, Grant, Dylan, Michael, Aidan, Jayden and Erica.
Services will be held at the Babbitt Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m.
Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
