Maynard Hartshorn, 77, of Iron, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the Virginia Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 18, 1938 in Frederic, WI to parents Wallace and Ellen Hartshorn. He attended Webster High School.
Maynard married Lois Cornwell on Nov. 5, 1960 in Ely, MN. He worked as a logger, at Reserve Mining, at Lampert Lumber and part-time for Mike Motors, Kuehl's Logging and Britton Construction. He retired from Starkman Oil in 2001.
Maynard served in the Army from 1956 to 1958 and with the Army Reserve until 1963.
He is survived by his wife Lois Hartshorn of Iron, MN; son Kirt (Jean) Hartshorn of Babbitt; son Mark Hartshorn of Iron, MN; daughter Kara (Rick) Rivord of Superior, WI; brother Lloyd Hartshorn of Plains, Montana, sister-in-law Peggy Hartshorn of Ely, and brother Paul (Marge) Hartshorn of Finland, MN; grandchildren Jada (Jared) great-granddaughter Jaena Hovi of Esko, MN, Kevin (Beth) Hartshorn of Cloquet, MN, Gavin and Garet Rivord of Superior, WI along with many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale Hartshorn, sister-in-law Linda Hartshorn, sister-in-law Peggy Garrison-Hartshorn, nephew Davis Hartshorn along with many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Ely with visitation being held one hour prior to the service at the church. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
