Florence Telich

Florence Telich, 100, left us on February 14, 2024 at Carefree Living in Ely, MN. She was the youngest child of nine, born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 11, 1923 to John and Appelonia Zitko.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jo Ann and Jon Erickson of Minneapolis, nephew Matt Smrekar of Ely and numerous nieces and nephews.

During World War II Florence worked at the General Electric Equipment war plant in Cleveland, Ohio.

Florence met Joe Telich in Cleveland at a “Minnesota Gopher Club.” They fell in love, married in 1949 and soon moved to Joe’s home town of Ely, Minnesota.

Florence learned to love the north woods as much as her husband. Many Sundays were spent with her husband and daughter Jo Ann picking berries and picnicking on the Echo Trail. She was an avid baker and was known for her apple and blueberry pies.

Services for Florence will be Thursday April 11, 2024 at 11:00  at the Kerntz Funeral Home in Ely.
