Paul Gustafson

Paul Maurice Gustafson passed away at their beautiful lake home on White Iron Lake near Ely, MN on February 22, 2024 at the age of 73 after a courageous seven-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Paul is survived by his wife of 51 years Beth (Mitlyng) Gustafson; his sons Jeremy (Meg) Gustafson of Corcoran, MN, Bryan (April) Gustafson of Hermantown, MN, and his daughter Sarah Gustafson of Duluth, MN; his grandchildren Rachel, Emily, Olivia, William, Chloe, Isaac, and Katherine; and his siblings Jean (Don) Houger of Colorado Springs, CO, Bobby (Lesli) Gustafson of Ely, MN, Kevin (Donna) Gustafson of Ely, MN, and Karen (Wayne) Erickson of Montevideo, MN. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Ardell (Munsen) Gustafson and his twin brother, Preston.

Paul was born on January 29th, 1951 in Granite Falls, MN. He graduated from Maynard High School in 1969. He served 6 years in the Army National Guard. He began farming at 19 years old and later worked as a maintenance engineer until he retired in 2011. He and Beth then built their home on White Iron Lake. Paul loved the Lord, his family, his friends, and the lake and woods around him.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, March 1st at 2 pm at Ledgerock Community Church located at 1515 E. Camp Street in Ely, MN.  A graveside service will be held at a later date in Maynard, MN. In lieu of flowers, Paul has requested donations be made to Ledgerock Community Church music fund or Kathy’s House near Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
