Victor 'Vic' Gustafson

Victor Gustafson, 85, passed away on February 26th, in his beloved Ely, Minnesota after a brief battle with pneumonia.  He was surrounded with love from those near and far.  

Victor was born on April 12, 1938 to Harry and Alice Gustafson in Rib Lake, Wisconsin.  After graduating from Phillips High School, he went on to obtain a college degree from University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point.  Victor was an accomplished athlete in his youth and continued his love of fishing and hunting throughout his life.  He had many fond memories that he shared with us throughout the years.  Victor loved to cook, was great on the BBQ and smoker, and was a lifelong learner, especially in the area of science.  He had an entrepreneurial nature and was known for his gentle spirit and sense of humor.

Victor is survived by his partner of 33 years, Rosemary Hutar; his children, Gwen, Kris and Dawn; his nephew Thomas Gustafson, Jr; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Alice Gustafson, and his brother, Thomas Gustafson.  

At Victor's request, no service will be held.  Instead, he asked that you remember him as he was, raise a toast to his life and know that he left in peace and feeling his life was complete.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
