Kenneth Evenstad Obituary

Kenneth Martin Evenstad, 78 of Babbitt, passed away peacefully at home August 13, 2018 after a valiant 4 year battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born February 16, 1940 in Menasha, WI to Harold (Ozzie) and Dorothy (Gehrmann) Evenstad.  He was raised in Superior, WI and attended Superior Central High School. 
Ken joined the US Army in 1957, serving in Germany until 1960. He married his wife Lynn (Darrolyn Salo) in June 1960. They raised their family in Babbitt while he worked at Reserve Mining Co. on the railroad and then as a Journeyman Electrician until Reserve shut down in 1986.  He then worked for the State of MN as an electrician on the monorail at the Minnesota Zoo, until he retired.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.  His most proud accomplishment was designing and building his log home on Birch Lake.  He and Lynn enjoyed their retirement winters in Arizona.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lynn. His children, Sherry (Greg) Scharber and Rich Evenstad.  Eight grandchildren; Jessica (Kris) Scherer, Ryan (Stefanie) Scharber, Adam Evenstad, Brendan (Eszter) Scharber, Brynn (Kurt) Doran, Mikayla Evenstad, Aleah (Chris) Andreozzi and Braelynn Evenstad, as well as eleven great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his sisters Jackie (Murray) Sullivan and Maryann Fisher, brothers Rick (Chris) Krogerson and Marvin Krogerson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Kenneth Patrick Evenstad, brothers Gary Evenstad and Harold (Bibs) Evenstad and sister Carol Kinney.
Funeral Mass at St Pius X Catholic Church in Babbitt, Saturday August 18, 2018 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior to service.
