Marie J Fink

Marie Josephine (Dolly) Fink, 95, of Ely, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Boundary Waters Care Center in Ely. 
Marie was born on March 19, 1923 to Jacob and Mary Strezishar. She attended Ely schools. On December 25, 1943 she married Frank Fink. She lived in Ely all of her life other than a brief stay in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1944. Marie worked various jobs but she was most recognizable as the candy lady at Parkside Milk Bar. She loved that job and generations stood in front of the candy counter with their nickels and dimes trying to decide what penny candy to buy. It helped her develop great patience just as long as you didn’t spin the stools. 
Marie like gardening (flowers/vegetables), picking berries, volunteering and traveling to visit family. She also liked bowling, polka music and singing hymns and Christmas music. She participated in Women’s Catholic Council and KSKJ Lodge. 
She is survived by her children: James (Victoria) Fink of Bemidji, MN, Marjorie (Blaine) Hoff of Volga, SD; sister: Patricia Lammi of Ely; four grandchildren: Sandy (Nate) Hanson, Tia (Jason) Hartzell, Brad (Teresa) Hoff and Justin (Megan) Fink; four great-grandchildren: Gianna Fink, Rocco Fink, Liam Hoff and Grady Hartzell. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank and brothers Jack, Richard and Thomas. 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday May 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ely with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. 
Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
