CARYN COOK Obituary

Caryn Lee Cook passed away in her home in Winton, Minnesota on February 4, 2022 at the age of 47. She was born at the Colorado Springs Air Force Base. The view from the room was spectacular and the deer would peer in often, probably awakening her love of nature early on.

Anyone who ever met Caryn understood the intensity of her presence. Her smile could light up a room. She was kind, caring, compassionate and always wanting to help others. She brought light to everyone she came across, making their world just a little bit brighter, a little more meaningful. She lived an incredibly full and adventurous life, supported by family and friends from all corners of this earth.

She was a natural as a Tour Manager, a position she held for many years with Collette Vacations; guests would feel like they were traveling with a friend.

Whether serving wine in California or backpacking in New Zealand; opening the eyes of newcomers to Portugal, kayaking in Rhode Island or fishing in the Boundary Waters, Caryn’s love of life was incredibly contagious.

Caryn was an amazing mother to her French Bulldog Gus, who was her absolute partner through any changes or moves.

She called many places home, including Minnesota, Rhode Island, California, Oregon and Washington but her north star was always drawn back to Ely.

Caryn is remembered and celebrated by a great network of people who will keep her in their hearts forever.

She is survived by her parents Monica (John) Miklaucic, Tommy (Rosemary) Sheets, sister Sara (Kim Beggs) Sheets, nephew James Sauter and numerous relatives. Special friends include David Cook, Joanie Somyk and Heather Larson.

She was preceded in death by her brother Brian Sheets.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
