Conrad Adam Gill, 88, of Ely, MN passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2026 with his loving wife at his side. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ely, MN.
Conrad was born in Chicago, IL on November 29, 1937 to Joachim (George) and Josephine Gill. He was the youngest son with an older brother Raymond and older sister Adele. He attended St. Pascal and Weber High School (formerly St. Stanislaus) and continued his education in college to become an Accountant. He established his Accounting business in 1972 in Franklin Park, IL, moving to Chicago then to Woodstock, IL until he sold his firm and retired moving from Lake Geneva, WI to Ely in 1998.
Conrad enjoyed billiards having played on many league teams on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays and practicing on his home table with fellow pool players. He also taught his wife and stepdaughters how to snowmobile but, his true passions were Chicago Bears football and fishing for walleye. He loved “Da” Bears and never missed a televised game. He was a great arm-chair quarterback. While in WI he was a member of the Lake Geneva Fishing Club, even serving as president. He made his own jigs painting them many colors he believed the fish would be attracted to. He also designed many personal fishing rod blanks with his own creative ideas. He fished his home lake of White Iron as often as he could and there were many vacations into the BWCA and Canada fishing for walleye. He truly enjoyed sharing fishing time with his family getting more joy out their catching a fish than his own.
Conrad is survived by his wife Kathleen Gill, stepdaughters Jennifer (Fred) Blair, Lisa (Shawn) Kobarg, grandchildren Delvin Handzel, Ryan Handzel, Steven (Breanna) Hanson, Mason Kobarg, Fenix Kobarg, Violet Kobarg , great-granddaughter Layla Hanson, nephew Raymond (Linda) Gill and a few cousins.
