Dean Laroy Boedeker, 69, of Winton, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Duluth, with his brother Dan and nephew Patrick by his side.
Dean was born on April 2, 1957, in Ely to Donald and Lois Boedeker. He lived a simple and quiet life, finding joy in the things he loved most. Dean enjoyed collecting antiques, especially crocks, riding his wheeler, and wrenching on cars. Later in life, he could often be found cruising through town with his dog, Rufus.
Dean will be remembered for his independent spirit, kind heart, and the special bond he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by his brothers, Dan (Chery|) Boedeker of Winton and David (Anita) Boedeker of Renton, Washington; nephews Jeremy (Nicole) Boedeker of Madison, Wisconsin, Patrick (Autumn) Boedeker and Chad Boedeker of Ely, and Ben Boedeker of Renton, Washington; as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews Norah, Charlie, Milo, Emilia, Harvey, Edi, and Quilah.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lois Boedeker, and his faithful dog Lucky.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 21 at the Community Center in Winton, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home in Ely.
