Donald E. Williams

Donald Edward Williams, age 81 of Ely, passed away at his home on January 26, 2025. 

Don was born to Edith(Dorsey)and Alvis Williams in Mount Sterling, Ohio on April 24, 1943. Don worked for many years as a lineman for American Electric Power in Ohio, becoming the District Supervisor by the time he retired in 1997.

Don moved his family to southern Missouri after retiring, where he discovered a love for golfing and reveled in the beauty of the rural Ozarks.  He taught his daughters how to fish in their small pond on the property, and rode horses with his wife (although his "horse" later had 4 wheels and ran entirely on gasoline.

The Williams family moved full time to Ely, Minnesota in 2009, where Don continued to play golf, fish, and "donate" to the slot machines at the local casino.  Fishing became a true passion of his, and he adored spending time on the area's beautiful lakes in his boat-- as Donnie said " the fishing here is always good, no matter what we catch".  He also enjoyed a small villa in Florida, and spent the last few winters golfing and lounging in the sunshine.

Don was surrounded by his family and friends when he passed.  He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Christine Williams(Arn), his son Donald T. Williams, and his 2 daughters, Kristen Williams and Whitney Williams.  His memory will be cherished forever.
