Doreen Kay (Oelrich) Flynn

Doreen Kay (Oelrich) Flynn, 67, of Ely, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024 at Boundary Waters Care Center.

Doreen was born on January 7, 1957 in Virginia, MN to Leigh and Marjorie (Finckbone) Oelrich.

Doreen was independent and adventurous; she loved hiking, kayaking, and all things outdoors. She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends and also enjoyed meeting new friends along the way.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Jesse) Brunner; her two granddaughters, Michaela and Bailey Brunner; two sisters, Sharon (Stephen) Bateman and Tammy (John) Schubert, as well as nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and many friends; especially her best friend, Linda Fearn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leigh and Marjorie; her brother, Curtis Oelrich; both maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and others she considered as family.

As Doreen wished, no formal funeral services will be held. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Kerntz Funeral Home in Ely. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice.
