Glen Nyman Obituary

Glen L. Nyman, age 86, passed away on February 9, 2026 at Carefree Living in Babbitt, MN after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Glen was born April 21, 1939 in Ely, MN to Ralph and Marie (Burley) Nyman. Glen’s mother passed away when he was five years old, leaving his grandmother, Bessie Burley, to raise him while his father worked.

Glen helped his grandmother operate Burley Park Resort on White Iron Lake for his entire childhood. Glen graduated with the class of 1957 in Ely. His yearbook photo states “#1 with transportation.” He loved to buy vehicles and had a list of 32 vehicles he purchased over the years. Most were Fords and he would frequently visit Lundgren Ford in Eveleth. You could also always find him daily at the local grocery store. Glen eventually took over ownership of Burley Park Resort until he decided to go to work for the U.S. Forest Service in 1976.

Glen married Barbara Yadlosky in 1963 and had a daughter Kay. They later divorced. Glen married Gladys Warner in 1972. Later in life, Glen would be caregiver to Gladys for five years before she entered assisted living, later passing away in 2025. He always said he would “do it again,” even though it was hard on him. He cared for his family immensely.

Glen is survived by his daughter, Kay (Bob) Richards of Babbitt, and grandchildren, Robert and Brandon Richards of Babbitt; son, Loren (Josephine) Warner of Ely, grandchildren, Abigail, Glen and Justin of California, and Joshua of Ely. He is also survived by nieces, Marie, Laura, Sandra, and nephews, Robert and Paul.

Glen was preceded in death by his wife Gladys; his parents Ralph and Marie Nyman; his brothers William (Bill) and Raymond (Jiggs) Nyman.

Burial will take place at the Ely cemetery in the spring. A special thank you to Glen’s hospice team, Babbitt Carefree Living and Vermilion Senior Living for the compassionate care provided to Glen.
