Jean Elizabeth (Neururer) Nelson, of Ely, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 18, 2022. She was born in Federal Dam, Minnesota on March 17th, 1938. Jean and her twin sister, Joan, were the fifth and sixth children of Joseph and Anna Neururer.
She attended school in Federal Dam through the 8th grade and graduated from Boy River High School. She worked as a beautician in Ely where she met her future husband Russel (Ozzie) Nelson. They were married August 5th, 1961 in Federal Dam. Jean lived over 60 years in Ely where she made many great friends.
Jean lived her life volunteering in several different ways. She delivered Meal on Wheels for over 30 years, volunteered on the cemetery clean-up crew, made pasties every month and volunteered at the senior center every day. She loved calling bingo every chance she got!
Jean married the love of her life and her and Ozzie were a match made in heaven. They traveled together and hunted deer, rabbit, grouse and fished every chance they could. Unfortunately, Jean and Ozzie were never able to have children but were incredibly generous and loved by her 23 nieces and nephews.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband Ozzie, her parents, Joseph and Anna, her brothers, Joe, Jim, and Tony, her twin sister, Joan, her niece, Debbie, and her nephew, Jerry.
