Judith C. Hall, 86, of Ely passed away June 27, 2024, at The Boundary Waters Care Center. Judy was born on February 19, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is survived by a sister, Maryann Tilley, two nephews, Michael, and Jeff, and her three cats, Charcoal, Shadow, and Nimbus. Judy was preceded in death by her partner of 51 years, Linda Fryer.
Judy began her career teaching gym in Hammond, Indiana before moving to Ely. In Ely, Judy and Linda owned the Montgomery Wards store until its closure. Following that, Judy worked at the Minnesota Department of Revenue until her retirement.
Judy had a deep love for Ely. She and Linda enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping, creating many fond memories of their outdoor adventures and sharing them with friends. Judy was a huge Ohio State fan, and if they were playing sports, she could be found watching their games. Her enthusiasm for life and her love for her community and critters will be remembered by many.
Her family and friends would like to thank the staff at Boundary Waters Care Center for their kind care. Judy will be dearly missed by all who knew her especially Rita Grose, her friend of 58 years, Amy and Vic Modjeski, Mary Ann and John Lekatz. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her favorite charity, Contented Critters, located in Ely, MN.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home.
