Mary "Bubsy" Elaine Pryatel

Mary Elaine "Bubsy" Pryatel, 82, of Ely, MN died at Ely Carefree Living, Memory Care on May 31, 2024.

She was born August 1, 1941, in Ely, MN to Mary (Grebenc) and Louis Leustek, Sr., and was a lifelong resident of Ely. Bubsy attended Ely Memorial High School (the class of 1959) and was one of the majorettes. She married Joseph Pryatel in 1961. Together they had two sons, Joseph and James, before divorcing in 1992. Bubsy loved polka music, dancing and socializing at Dee's. She enjoyed listening to the accordion, golfing, fishing, traveling and taking walks around Ely. She always had time for coffee with family and friends.

She is survived by her son Joseph Pryatel (Hibbing, MN), sisters, Geraldine Corsiatto (Bethesda, MD) and Patricia Marty (Babbitt, MN), sister-in-law Cissy Leustek {Ely, MN), two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Louis Leustek Sr., her son James Pryatel, granddaughter Courtney Rae Pryatel, her brothers Louis Leustek Jr., Albert Leustek and Harold {Sonny) Leustek, her ex-husband Joseph Pryatel, and special friend Francis Lamppa.

In the later years, Bubsy had difficulty conversing but often had a smile on her face. In her words, one of her favorite life sayings was - "It is what it is." She will always be in our hearts and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A special acknowledgment and thank you goes out to the nurses and staff at Carefree Living of Ely, MN. The staff took great care of Bubsy. She loved them and appreciated the kindness and compassion they bestowed upon her.

At Bubsy's request, there will be no funeral services.
