Peggy Ann Koschak, age 74, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born on November 11, 1951 in Winton, MN to William and Verna Peterson. Peg married Robert Koschak on May 10, 1975, in Ely, MN, and shared 50 years of marriage before her untimely passing.
Peg loved to travel; far or near, she enjoyed new experiences and adventures with family. She loved being on our beloved Fall Lake fishing or boating (her anniversary gift every year was a new fishing pole). Peg’s pride and joy was her family, especially her five grandchildren. Any day with them was a day well spent. She loved cooking and baking, especially when the grandkids were old enough to help! In recent years, Peg became an animal lover in the two cats the grandkids “donated” to her.
She is survived by her husband Robert "Bob", daughter Melissa (Dwayne) Chapman of Big Lake, AK and son Justin Koschak of Virginia, MN. She was greatly loved by her grandchildren: Elliott, Nora, Spencer, Rachel and Rebecca.
Also survived by siblings: Danny Peterson, Jeannie Franklin, Paula (Nick) Mattila, Clyde (Karin) Peterson, Jim (Sue) Peterson.
Further survived by many nieces and nephews, who she always treated like her own.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Verna Peterson; grandparents; nephew, Jarred Hinzmann; great-nephew, Noah Hofmeister; and special aunts and uncles.
A special Thank You to the team at Essentia Health in Duluth for their exemplary care.
Services will be Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the United Methodist Church of Ely with visitation one hour prior.
Services are entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
