Philip Arthur “Phil” Hagedorn, age 85, passed away on March 13 at his home in Ely, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruth Hagedorn; sister, Monica Theis; infant son, Peter and grandson, Henry.
He is survived by his wife, Dulcie; children, Christopher (Sarah Streitz), Jane (Doug) Anderson, Elizabeth (Andre) Debrey, and Jason (Jeanne) Stahlberg; nine grandchildren; brothers, John and Peter, and sister, Julie; and first wife Elizabeth Hagedorn.
Phil grew up in North Minneapolis and graduated from North High School in 1957. He joined the US Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1965 with a degree in Sociology.
His professional career was spent in city government, first with the Minneapolis Housing and Redevelopment Authority, and later with the Minneapolis Community Development Agency.
He worked throughout the city, especially Near North, Cedar-Riverside, Seward, and St. Anthony Main.
In 1979, Phil married the love of his life, Dulcie; they enjoyed over 45 years together in Minneapolis, Golden Valley, and lived on Wolf Lake near Ely for 20 years.
Phil was intelligent, kind, and gentle. He loved music, old cars, getting together with his “Cronies” for lunches in Minneapolis, fall grouse hunting trips in Northeastern Minnesota and being a member of Studebaker Clubs in Minneapolis and Ely. He was most proud of his almost 50 years of sobriety.
Memorial services are pending.
