ROBERT EDWARD GRAHEK

Robert “Bob” Grahek, 81 of New Brighton, MN, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in Ely following a stroke.

He was born on August 25, 1941 in Fairmont, MN.

Bob retired from teaching in the Mounds View school district after 33 years.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing, family, traveling, sports and spending time where he grew up in Ely, MN.

Bob is survived by his wife Cindy (Anderson) Grahek; children: Wendy Grahek, Tracy (Jon) Wych, and Kirk Nelson; grandchildren: Brenna Strickland (Hutch), Erika Gibbs (Cadry), and Taylor Wych; two great-grandchildren Sutton and Wrenley Gibbs; his sisters: Jane (Gary) Dormanen and Kathy (Joel) Belehar; his brother Roger (Debbie) VanKirk; sisters-in-law: Barbara Woods, Linda (Paul) Palmer, Sandi Grahek and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Molly Grahek; his brother Larry Grahek; brother-in-law Joe Grahek; grandparents Frank and Ursula Tratnik and Joe J and Anna Grahek.

A celebration of life is planned for June 28, 2023, 4-7 p.m. picnic dinner included at the Turtle Lake County Park, Turtle Lake Shelter,  Shoreview, MN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Twin Cities Slovenians or to donor’s choice.

Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
