Robert Adolph Lindholm died on April 12, 2023 at Ely Carefree Living.
Robert (Bob) was born October 25, 1927 in Two Harbors, MN. He graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1943 where he played hockey and football. Bob served in the US Army in the Occupation Forces in Trieste, Italy maintaining communication lines for 1 ½ years. Bob married LaVerne Anderson on May 26, 1951 at Two Harbors Lutheran Church. After a few years in Two Harbors and then Virginia, they settled in Ely in 1962. Bob worked for the telephone company and retired after 44 years. He was very active in Kiwanis and the Ely United Methodist Church where he served on the board in several positions, attended Men’s Club and, after retirement, was a regular at pasty making, cardamom biscuit making and volunteering at nursing home Sunday services. Bob was a life member of the VFW, enjoyed fishing and camping with friends and family in the BWCA and Quetico, and was an avid crafter.
Bob is survived by wife LaVerne; children Bob (Jeanne) Lindholm, Larry (DeeAnn) Lindholm, Julie (Marty) Ericson, Joan (Dan) Dagger; eight grandchildren Jessica, Rebecca, Joshua, Kelsey, Kristina, Ryan, Jordan, and Kailee; four great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law Lois (Ed) Johnson and Ruth Erickson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Art (Dolly) Anderson, Pat (Chuck) Blair, and Norman Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by parents Evald & Selma Lindholm; parents-in-law Lars & Olga Anderson; sisters and brothers-in-law Pauline (Clark) McCutchen, John Erickson, Lucille Lindholm, and Anne Smith; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Violet (Shorty) Melovasich; nieces Denise Carey and Cheryl Klun.
Bob’s memorial service was held April 15. Memorials requested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Ely United Methodist Church.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home in Ely.
