Richard (Richie) Anthony Jiacik

Richard Anthony Jiacik (Richie), age 86, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 2, 2023.

Richie was born July 2, 1936 in Ely where he was a life long resident.

He proudly served four years in the United States Navy and worked at the Ely Post Office for 35 plus years from which he retired.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Karen (Starkman), his parents Pete and Ann, sister Dorothy and her husband Dan (Stember), brothers Pete and his wife Rose, Paul and his wife Diane.

Survived by daughters Roxy (Chuck) Graff, Val (Ben) McGrath, sister Carol Janeksela, special nephew and friend David (DJ) Janeksela, several nieces, nephews and friends.

Richie was an awesome pool player, avid sports fan, Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Golden Gophers hockey were his favorite.

He loved to hang out in his patio (which he named R & K Saloon) listening to tunes and sipping on Pabst Blue Ribbon.

He requested no service.  There will be a private family burial at the  Ely Cemetery this Fall.
