Roberta (Robbie) Elizabeth Zbacnik

Roberta Elizabeth Zbacnik (Robbie), age 69, of Ely, passed away on January 6, 2024, at Essentia Health St Mary's Hospital in Duluth surrounded by her family.

Robbie was born in Virginia, MN on April 30, 1954, to Frank and Florence (Anderson) Pengal. She graduated from Ely Memorial High School in 1972. A few years later, on April 19, 1975, she was united in marriage to her loving husband Thomas Zbacnik. Together they started a family and built a loving home.

Robbie was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed golfing, biking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Robbie especially enjoyed running in Grandma's Marathon and Fitgers 5K.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Robbie is survived by her husband Tom of Ely, her 2 children, Thomas (Amanda) of Esko, MN and Robert (Amy) of Woodstock, VT. Her 5 grandchildren, Brody, Maddux, Quinn, Russell, and Gwen. Brothers Frank (Carol) Pengal of Hibbing, MN, Paul (Carol) Pengal of Ely, MN. Sisters Karen (Jeff) Copeman of Hibbing, MN, and Ruth Pengal of Ely. Sisters-in-law Laura (Dave} Chelesnik of Ely, and Carol Norby of Ely, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, In-laws, Anthony (Red) and Vera Zbacnik, nephews, David (Chaz) Chelesnik, Frank Pengal Jr., and brother-in-law Sheldon (Nobby) Norby.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date this spring at the Grand Ely Lodge in Ely, MN. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
