Stanley James Verbick

Stanley James Verbick, 82, of Babbitt, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

Stan was born to Stan and Mary Verbick (Bonovich) on August 18, 1941 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and grew up in Calumet.

He moved to Babbitt in 1954 and attended Ely schools.

On January 4, 1964 he married his high school sweetheart Kathleen (Pryatel).

Survived by two sons, Steve and Thomas (Cheryl); grandsons Travis and Dolan.

Stan was in the Air Force, stationed in England at Sculthorpe Air Base from 1959 to 1962.

Stan and Kathy moved to Illinois where he worked for Goodyear and North Star Gas. They moved back to Minnesota in 1968 where he worked as a custodian at the Babbitt School and at Linde Aire.

He bought the Babbitt Municipal Bar and ran it for 15 years as the Babbitt Bar, selling it to become Tank’s Bar.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bruce in December of 2022.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church in Babbitt with visitation one hour prior. Burial in Argo Cemetery.
