Simon Frank Marolt

Simon F. Marolt, 100, of Ely, passed away at Carefree Assisted Living in Ely on Sunday, May 15, 2016. Simon was born in Ely to Simon and Agatha (Carr) Marolt on December 12, 1915. Simon was married to Frances Seme. He worked at the Zenith Mine and then was employed at Reserve Mining until his retirement. Simon was very active at the Ely Senior Center, for many years he ran the Bingo games there. Simon loved to fish, his yard and all of his trees and enjoyed Slovenian Polka music traveling all over the Iron Range to listen.
Simon is survived by his daughter: Judy (Steve) Tracy, a sister-in-law: Marydel Marolt and numerous other relatives and friends.
Simon was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter: Jeanette Marolt, (2) sisters: Rosemarie Buchner and Delores High, (3) brothers: Edward, Louis and Albert Marolt.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with visitation being held one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s charity of your choice is preferred. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
